Math Department offers Study Tips and Tutoring
As we approach the end of the grading term, the concern regarding grades increases. The math department has in place steps to prevent failure. Please take a moment to review the information below regarding study guides, tests, retests, and tutoring:
Study guides
Study guides are given at the beginning of each unit
Answer keys are included and students must show work
Study guides should be completed a few days before the test
Study guides are collected on test day
Study guides are required in order for a student to retest
Tests
Tests consist of 20 multiple choice questions
Tests are given after 5 concepts have been taught
The last 5 questions on every test are review questions from prior tests
Each Algebra teacher stays after school the day before the test until 3:00 for any questions students may have
Retests
Students may retake tests within one week of the test date
Students may retake tests only if a completed study guide was turned in on test day
In order to retake the test, students must stay after school one day for remediation with his/her algebra teacher and one day for the retest. Teachers announce the days offered on the test date.
Students who are failing the class and fail a test are assigned up to 3 days of Academic Detention. (One day to complete the study guide, one day for tutoring, and one day to retake the test.)
The higher of the test scores is entered into the gradebook
Tutoring
As stated above, the algebra teachers stay after school the day before the test and two days following the test

A Note about SCHOOL LUNCHES
Just a reminder to freshmen and their parents that we are not able to have students charge lunches at the high school level. It is district policy. Please make sure your lunch accounts are full by accessing www.myschoolbucks.com
Families qualifying for Free or Reduced Lunch pricing need to fill out the FRL lunch forms each year. Letters went home in the last week to remind families of this. Please complete the forms available on the BCPS website so your child is able to receive meals at school. Go to http://www.bullittschools.org/Content/808 Click on Free/Reduced Price Meals on the right hand side of the screen.
